MTN and other major Network Provider to Increase Data Price as Directed by NCC starting from Dec 1

It’s no longer a rumor that MTN and other major telecommunication networks have been rolling out updates about an increase in data price starting from December 1st of 2016.

Just when we thought we can relax and enjoy the Internet with the various affordable data plan we have, NCC came out of no where to take us to those days when data was gold and only the rich can afford more data.
In an SMS sent by MTN 2 days ago it reads “Dear customer, please be informed that from 1st Dec, some MTN data tariffs will be increased to reflect the new rates set by the NCC to operators. Thank you.”

Further more, this update is not only peculiar to MTN NG it has been rolled out by other networks like Etisalat.

There has been mixed reactions from Nigerians because this updates are coming at the time the country is going through Economic Recession and inflation. Only God can help us.

What do you think about this update please let us know.

As you can see from the image above the video calling feature comes with the new version of Whatsapp.
Now that you’re updated, you need to open Whatsapp proceed to whoever it is you want to give a video call.

Click on the call button inside the chat screen you should be given this two options, if yours is different from the screen above that means your friend is yet to update there Whatsapp to the latest version.

WhatsApp Video Calling Feature To Be Available Soon For All Users

The Facebook-owned messaging app added FaceTime-style video chats in an app update on Tuesday. The feature only supports one-to-one calls at the moment, but all messages are end-to-end encrypted, just like WhatsApp’s text and voice calls.

WhatsApp’s move into video messaging is not a surprise given the number of other companies offering alternative features. Apple, Google, Snapchat and even Facebook Messenger already have some sort of video messaging functionality.

10 Reasons Why You Should Shop On Black Friday 2016

Haven’t You Heard About The Recession: Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Shop On Black Friday 2016Black Friday 2016

Who doesn’t love cheap things? Who doesn’t love paying less than half the value for a product you have always wanted to have? Just imagine a brand new IPhone 7 for N220,000 Or an iPad mini for N29,000. Yes this is in fact going to happen and it is going to happen very, very soon. It is called BLACK FRIDAY.

According to wiki, Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November), often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Well, like many other things, Nigeria has also caught the bug of BLACK FRIDAY. And the 2 biggest online stores in Nigeria, JUMIA and KONGA have brought Black Friday 2016 closer to us. Now we can shop online for the duration of the Black Friday 2016 and get up to 70% DISCOUNT!!

Black Friday 2016 is making a comeback again and different on Jumia Nigeria with 12 DAYS from 14th – 25th November 2016 to give you more time, ease and deals to choose from; Excited! Ready!! Can’t wait!!! and invite your friends & family now >> CLICK HEREBlack Friday 2016

  1. Massive Discount: The amount you’ll save will blow your mind. This offer is the biggest promo, bonanza or whatever you call it in Nigeria. You’d benefit a lot of discounts on different products ranging from kitchen utensils, phones, laptops, office gadgets, computers and so on. If you no like awoof, me I like am o!
  1. Financial: There are quite simply many Nigeria consumers that cannot afford more than the absolute basic necessities — and many that can’t afford even those. The opportunity to buy new clothes and household items at lower prices is heaven sent. And extras such as gift cards help supplement tight budgets for food and other consumables when redeemed later
  1. It’s sweat-free and stress-free: Freezing winter, scorching summer, windy or rainy days, they don’t matter anymore, as long as you have a computer, a laptop, or simply your smartphone around and that’s enough. Just get your items shipped to you with most retailers carrying 100% full return policies during this season.
  2. Deals can pop up quickly: In the world of Black Friday shopping, deals can change quickly. Limited-time offers may disappear as quickly as they appear. In case new deals pop up over the course of Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and the weekend leading into Cyber Monday, shopping online gives you the flexibility to find and act on new sales as they happen. Keep your computer or phone close by to monitor your email inbox and social media feed for news of late-breaking specials.
  3. Sport: There’s a school of thought that says shopping satisfies the human drive to hunt, and Black Friday behavior lends credence to that theory. How else to explain those who camp out in the cold, hoping to be the first line for a new TV? The stampeding hordes and bad behavior? The thrill of the hunt is fueled by some of our baser instincts.
  4. Tradition: It’s not every person’s idea of family fun, but there are many who have made Black Friday shopping expeditions an annual tradition. Memories are being made. Don’t knock it.
  5. You Have Tremendous Self-Control: Stores like Best Buy (another of those on the 6 p.m. Thursday bandwagon) will make money on you by selling the TV at cost, and loading your cart with all of the accessories and other smaller items that aren’t discounted at all. Also, if the store has advertised that the sale on the item you want is “only while supplies last”, will you have the strength not to buy something else? If you can manage to get in and out of the place without those, you’ve won
  6. It’s super quick: Long gone are the days when you’d have to wait for several days until a package would get delivered to your home. To make Black Friday a big online event, many retailers are coming forward with one-day shipping. Amazon has taken this to the next level with its Prime Free Same-Day Delivery where you could order an item in the morning and have it at home by afternoon.
  7. It’s germ-free: Fighting crowds on special days like Black Friday can also be bad for your health. Confused? You cannot deny that the chances of people catching a cold or even the flu are quite high in crowded places. Steer clear of these places, be sick free and shop from the comfort of your own home by steering away from any potential viral or bacterial attack. Winter is coming!
  8. Free shipping is a growing trend: Historically, one of the drawbacks of making purchases online has been the shipping fees. Consumers are in for a treat this year, as many stores are offering free seasonal shipping. At Best Buy, shoppers can enjoy free standard shipping on eligible products with no minimum purchase amount required

Keep your fingers crossed for jaw-dropping discount deals on Nigeria’s biggest online sales event. There is also an option to pay on delivery if you don’t feel comfortable paying online.

Black Friday 2016 is making a comeback again and different on Jumia Nigeria with 12 DAYS from 14th – 25th November 2016 to give you more time, ease and deals to choose from; Excited! Ready!! Can’t wait!!! and invite your friends & family now >> CLICK HERE

Nokia Phones Really Do Stop Bullets

It’s a running joke how the Nokia phones of years gone by are so tough, however. that might also be true for its newer models.

Microsoft’s General Manager of Core UX Peter Skillman reported that an Afghani man was saved by his Nokia phone last week after a bullet got stuck in it.

That being said, other brands like the iPhone & HTC Evo 3D have also behaved as Kevlar vests in the past. Keep in mind though that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones are doing the opposite by acting as actual explosives due to their faulty batteries.

Happy Belated Birthday: Google Just Turned 18!

18 Years ago Google first saw the light of day, to make it the world’s favourite search engine, browser, map service, email client, mobile OS, ok, let’s stop there. The world as we know it would be very incredibly different if it weren’t for Google with at least one third of the global population using its very many services.

Doodler Gerben Steenks designed this Doodle in celebration of Google’s 18th birthday.

Apple has nothing compared to that. Take a moment to let that sink in. Even tech companies aspire to reach the indispensable status that Google has achieved. Amazon & Facebook have come closest to replicating Google’s success but through rather different approaches.
Google’s relevance can be attributed to its ubiquity & quality of its services. Google’s strategy of being everywhere so that it no longer matters where its users are or what programmes they use has put it above the rest.
Even though this blog post is coming late we at TechPhreak use this opportunity to wish Google an Happy Belated Birthday and we hope it’s not too late to share some cakes.
